The Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies and its Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Health Science have begun a series of initiatives dedicated to the community (faculty, technical administrative staff, and students) to promote health understood as a person's physical and psychological well-being, through self-assessment questionnaires, lectures, and diagnostic tests. Lifestyles, risk of developing cardiovascular disease, cancer prevention and adherence to existing screenings, particularly those for breast cancer, colorectal cancer and Papilloma Virus infection, adherence to vaccination campaigns were some of the topics at the center of the kick-off meeting on Wednesday, May 17, hosted in the Aula Magna of the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies and introduced by Sabina Nuti, Rector.

This track is enriched with interdisciplinary contributions. Speakers at the launch meeting on Wednesday, May 17 included physicians and clinicians such as Michele Emdin (Coordinator of the Center and Director of the Cardio-thoracic Department of the Fondazione Monasterio) and Claudio Passino (Professor of Cardiology at the Center and Scientific Coordinator of the Monasterio), Giuseppe Vergaro and Alberto Aimo (both Researchers at the Center), and Sabina De Rosis (Researcher specializing in Health Management at the Center). The pathway sees the collaboration of professors from the University of Pisa and the team of the UO Safety and Environment of the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies, coordinated by Engineer Alessandro Innocenti. For this pathway is, in fact significant the collaboration with the University of Pisa: during the meeting Federica Marmorino (Researcher in Oncology at the University of Pisa) and Caterina Rizzo (Full Professor of Hygiene at the University of Pisa) spoke during the kickoff meeting, who, as an exceptional speaker, focused on the significance of the value of vaccination, for example for influenza, HPV, Varicella-Zoster.

At the end of the kickoff meeting, the first of the screening initiatives conducted by performing a simple electrocardiogram on about 40 people was held in collaboration with the healthcare staff of the Fondazione Monasterio. The goal of the course is now to consolidate a permanent health laboratory for the different components of the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies community. The "permanent laboratory" will promote many future initiatives.
